The big names in Hollywood that happily own a few satoshi’s of their own. Here are the 6celebrities that still invest in crypto today.

As the world breathes a collective sigh of relief, the New Year brings new promise in a number of ways. Not only are we all hoping for an end to lockdowns as vaccines for the novel coronavirus make their way into public bloodstreams across the world- all of the armchair investing that happened on newbie focused sites like Bitvavo is really paying off- especially if you bet on bitcoin.

At time of writing, the famous digital currency is opening at an incredible high of just over $32K per coin, with a massive peak at nearly $34,000 at the brink of the new year. Which means the coin is shining just as brightly as its many celebrity endorsements.

Gwenyth Paltrow

More than just your vaginal and colonic health, Gweneth Paltrow also has a vested interest in cryptocurrencies. Possibly the poster child of how much influence celebrities have on consumer buying habits, Paltrow has been plugging crypto for sometime now, and only seems to be more vigorously touting its usefulness as time marches on.

Despite her more public plug of the alternative to conventional currencies in 2018, the star turned “healer” still seems positive when it comes to technology and cryptocurrencies. A virtual speaker at the 2020 Web Summit– a multinational event that prizes technology and where it might bring us in the future- the entrepreneur still seems to hold a firm affinity for the next biggest thing.

Bill Gates

Absolutely no one is shocked that this tech giant and global philanthropist is into bitcoin. Basically, The Godfather of modern technology, Bill Gates has been on the cutting edge of technological advance since way before bitcoin began. While the multi-billionaire did pull back on his praise for crypto slightly in 2018 and 2019, he seems to be becoming more vocal about his support of digital currencies of late.

In 2014, during an interview, Gates discussed how cryptocurrencies stood to revolutionize standard fiat systems by both making them more convenient and more accessible. Which is exactly what bitcoin and other cryptos have brought to the market within the last two years.

Mel B

Scary she may be, afraid she is not. Mel B was the first British pop artist to publically back bitcoin in 2014, which is arguably when a number of celebrities seemed to get on the crypto train. However, what really sets her apart from others, is that she has continued to support and promote bitcoin and associated crypto technologies since then.

Crypto technologies have come a long way since 2014, showing incredible promise, as well as spending their time at the bottom. However, 2021 seems to be an increasingly promising year for both crypto and stars like Mel B.

Snoop Dog

Another early backer of bitcoin, rapper Snoop Dog took a shine to the currency as early as 2013. Despite the actor/rapper/entrepreneur/philanthropist being a bit cagey about whether or not he still dabbles in crypto- or exactly how much he owns today, the brilliantly business minded celebrity is still one of the most touted crypto-enthusiasts when it comes to any celebrities that invest.

While it’s not often the star talks finance, he was seen to perform at a Ripple event in 2018, signalling that his support of crypto is still as strong and relevant today as is his 1993 debut album Doggystyle. His mind seems to still be firmly on his money, with his money on his mind.

Ashton Kutcher

Perhaps one of the earliest, and most vocal, celeb adopters of bitcoin, Kutcher’s acting career may have mellowed, but his investment savvy certainly didn’t. Beginning public support of cryptocurrencies as early as 2010, the star has since invested in a wide number of different cryptocurrency-based funds and technologies. Most recently posting a video to promote Cryptograph, a blockchain powered marketplace created in 2020 that supplies a digital, immutable, and secure platform for art.

Despite the divisive premise of the online marketplace, where seemingly all child stars of the 90’s sell their broad interpretations of art for charity- the technology and underlying functionality of the platform is sound. Showing that blockchain technology doesn’t only have staying power, but creates it.

Serena Williams

Serena Williams has long taken her tenacity that she shows on the court into the crypto realm. Quietly becoming one of the most prolific investors in the crypto-celebrity space. In 2014, the tennis pro quietly created a multi-national investment firm called Serena Ventures. While the star has been seen to pop up the occasional tweet in support of cryptocurrencies, her money is far from her mouth, as she seems to do much more investing than she does promoting.

However, quiet the superstar might be about her venture capitalist endeavors, she still seems to closely align her morals with her investments. As it was reported in 2020 that Williams divested in the popular crypto exchange Coinbase, supposedly due to the company putting down a firm line against employee activism, effectively banning any political advocacy following an uproar over the CEOs lukewarm stance on the BLM movement.
